Well this month got off to a strong start with these page few days!
Starting on Thursday (I know, still November) Tim and I went to the NGHTMRE before Christmas show at the Webster Theater in Hartford. I’m not much of an EDM fan but there was something interesting about this show. It was a lot better than the Glitch Mob show we went to a few weeks ago. Going to these shows as been helping me get more comfortable with being out of my comfort zone.
NGHTMRE was only the first concert of the weekend.
Friday, after a night of limited sleep and a day of work, Tim and I headed to another concert but this time all of the acts were local to Connecticut and Western Mass. We attended the Valley Music Showcase at New City Brewery in Easthampton. We didn’t know any of the bands but none of them disappointed! Below are a few of my favorite songs from the bands that night.
If you ever get the chance to support local artists, I can say that its one great way to spend a night. Especially since after their sets, you can actually go and talk with the musicians without a security detail or anything like that. It was a blast!
The next day, we went to a civic ambassador summit to learn about being more involved and what is needed to maintain democracy. While we didn’t stay for the whole summit, there were some fascinating people discussing their work to help their communities. Some of the most interesting people were the young college and high school students learning how to navigate politics and activism.
Saturday evening, I hosted a Friendsgiving with some of my buddies from high school. With the holidays gearing up, this seemed like the best opportunity to get every one together. The food was great, the friends were great (of course), and the games were great. One of the highlights of the evening was playing the Bob Ross game where everyone becomes an artist. It was hilarious.
It was a weekend that went all of the place but it was a much needed burst of activity to start closing out the year.
