If you’re used to New England beaches like I am, Santa Monica seems like a treat. It’s warm sand meets the beautiful blue Pacific and you have to think it’ll be warmer than the Atlantic.
Nope, just as cold! Maybe a tad warmer. But just a tad.
Saturday in LA was a day at the beach. Bree and I took a Lyft to Santa Monica pier and set up on a spot near Muscle Beach. It was a nice relaxing way to spend the day compared to the equally welcome days of sightseeing on Friday and Saturday. I normally don’t do well just sitting and doing nothing on the beach but this was an exception. There were just so many things happening that I had never seen before.
Walking up and down the beach we’re men and women selling fresh fruit on a stick. Some had umbrellas and beach gear. I’ve never seen anything like that before. Sure, we have beach shops across from the beaches but we don’t have people who will just sell what you just might be looking for on the beach. Neither of us bought anything but did get some lunch from Hot Dog on a Stick on the beach.
After a few more hours, we decided to call it a day and head back to the apartment for a chill night in.
Tip of the day friends: wear ALL of the sunscreen!!! I burned even though I had a ton on… Damn California sunshine!
