Another year, another round of monthly favorites! This month brings us new favorites for skincare, music, books, and more! Take a look at mine and then share your January favorites in the comments!
This month’s beauty favorites are all about Tarte Cosmetics. These products really upped my skin care game, big time. My skin looks brighter, they lessened the look of old acne scarring, and my skin felt amazing and smooth. I love, love, love all of these products!
tarte Deep Dive Cleansing Gel– I love this stuff. I wrote all about it and the other Tarte cosmetics products in this month’s favorites in my Winter Skincare Routine. This cleansing gel is just amazing. A lot goes a long way, really. You need one pump, maybe two at most, to get the job done. Plus it is lightweight and smells amazing! The smell actually reminds me of some Origins products that I used to use.
tarte Tight & Bright Clay Multi-Mask– This was another much loved product this month! I didn’t think that I would get into the multi-masking trend but when everything is in one container, it is just so easy! Plus, when you have combination skin, it is nice to have everything you need in one (beautiful) jar.
tarte Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer– I applied this stuff before going to bed and in the morning and it has done wonders to my skin. My skin just looks plump and healthy. It seems brighter even. Plus it has been fighting off all that wintertime dry skin. What’s not to like?
tarte C-Brighter Eye Treatment– Before this, I had been using an eye cream from Origins (which I also loved). What got my attention and earned my daily use for this product was how lightweight it is. You don’t need a lot of product at all and it really feels like nothing is there when its on.
tarte Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Reign- For Christmas I had been given the Limited Edition Posh Pout Quick Dry & Glossy Lip. This holiday collection came with eight tarte minis, four matte lip paints and four glosses. Now, being a fan of their matte lip paint, I couldn’t wait to try out these colors. I ended up loving Reign and wearing it quite a bit this month. It’s just a great nude shade that gives little bit of that berry tone that is so popular right now. Plus the size is just right for throwing in your bag. The only bad thing about this product is that the name of the shade isn’t on the packaging. I had to go to Sephora’s website to find it!
For this year, my favorites will include a section for my thoughts on the books that I’ve been reading for one of my 2018 goals (reading 10-12 books this year). I’ll also be including some info on the 2018 Reading List page.
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins– This book was one of my bubblegum for the brain choices for this month. It was easy and helps relieve some of my day to day stress. Plus I could read it in a day or two if I had the time. This is just a sweet story about falling in love and gets you thinking, at least a little, about what home is.
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margret Atwood– I had initially sped through this book while watching the Hulu show of the same name. I loved it, the show and the book. This time around was all about taking it slow. Taking in each word. Analyzing everything. Taking the book as a warning instead of a guide.
I found a lot of great music this month, some of which slipped in at the end of 2017 thanks to the Spotify Wrapped playlists. I’ll try and contain myself while sharing some of my stand out songs.
Passenger Side (Single) (2017) by Smallpools- This song was in my “Ones That Got Away” Playlist and it very quickly became one of my favorites. Like this song was one of those ones where I would have to turn the volume up in my car or make sure I heard it from the beginning. It’s just catchy as hell.
hold on (2017) by flor- This was the first song I heard off of their album “come out. you’re hiding.” and I loved it. The tones of the song are just very relaxing while the song itself speaks to those at any stage of a relationship (or at least that’s what I was getting from the song).
Fantasy (2017) by Eternity Forever, Ben Rosett- This song came across my radar through my Discover Weekly playlist from January 8th. That playlist was one of the best in a while and had a lot of great gems that you may or may not see in future monthly favorites. Songs like this one are the reason you should always check out the Discover playlist. Always.
Hive Mind (Single) (2017) by False Plaintiff– This song reminded me a lot of some of the other songs that I loved in my teens. From the first few notes, I knew it was going to end up in my favorites this month. Definitely looking forward to more from this band.
