Winter Reading List

As a part of my goals for 2018, I’m planning on reading 10-12 books. To help keep me on track, I’m going to be posting seasonal reading lists. The books themselves won’t be seasonal but they should be good! I might even post some reviews of the books too!

For January-March, here’s a look at some of the books I’m planning on reading.

Bubblegum for the Brain

These books are the ones that are easy. They’re all mostly teen/realistic fiction. They are easy to read but can be so entertaining. Sometimes, you just need to turn to your old favorites for some comfort and stress relief.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins– Who doesn’t dream of doing study abroad and falling in love with a beautiful Englishman/Frenchman/foreigner?

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin– This was one of my favorite books when I was a teenage. It really makes you think about what happens after we die. What if those weird sounds we hear in our house are our loved ones trying to contact us through the sink? What if we are reborn after we live out our lives in reverse after we die? Makes you think.

Dark and Thoughtful

Sometimes you just need a heavy book. Or a book that will make you think.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn– I actually had tried to read this book after seeing the movie but life just got too crazy. Lets see if I like this more than the movie.

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margret Atwood- I was reading this while I was watching the Hulu version of it and I fell in love. Plus it’s good prep if you don’t trust the current government….

I do love a good biography from time to time.

The Crown: Volume 1, 1947-1955 by Robert Lacey– I love the Netflix show The Crown. It only makes sense to read the real history that the show is based on.

What are you going to be reading this winter?
