Welcome 2018: Goals & Resolutions for the New Year

Happy New Year! With this first post of 2018, I figured this was the perfect chance to share my goals and resolutions for the new year. Now, I tend to struggle with these. Usually whatever goals I set for myself get ignored after a month or so. It happens to all of us, right? That is why I’m trying to pick goals and ways to better myself this year that I will actually want to stick to. It’ll be hard but, hopefully, I can accomplish a few of this goals by the end of the year. We’ll see! Maybe I’ll have to make myself do updates here on the blog to stay on top of everything. Fingers crossed!

1. Read 10-12 Books

I love reading books. The problem is, since I started college in 2012, I haven’t had the time to read very often. I either get in the mood and never finish the book or I just go months and never pick anything up. This year, I want to try and read one book a month. In theory, I should be able to at least get to twelve books by December 2018.

2. Cook More

Surprisingly, I love cooking. I don’t get to do it very often but I really do enjoy it. I’m hoping now that I’m, like, an actual adult, I can get in the habit of cooking dinner at least once a week. Or at the very least maybe I can start doing meal prep Sundays for the work week.


3. Budget, Budget, Budget

I have been TERRIBLE when it comes to having a budget. I purchased a budget planner from Michael’s and then kind of ignored it… oops. 2018 is when I’m going to actually sit down and plan out my budget. On the first of the month, I’ll be going through everything and coming up with a general monthly budget and savings plan. It won’t be fun but I have to do it. All the best people have budgets, right?


4. Make Healthier Options

I’ll be the first to say I don’t always make the healthiest options. I have a major sweet tooth. I don’t always drink water. I can be pretty lazy when it comes to exercising (part of that coming from the fact that I HATE my gym and I’ve been trying to get out of my contract forever now). In 2018, I want to make healthy choices and do more to better myself.


5. Grow Stronger Relationships

Over the years, I have developed the bad habit of not talking to people for long periods of time. It isn’t that I don’t want to talk to these people, life just gets in the way. In 2018, I want to get better about calling, texting, or writing letters more to the people I care about.
