November Favorites

November is always a weird month for me, and this year was no different. I spend a lot of November trying to keep my mental health in check (thank you Seasonal Affective Disorder…) and just trying to keep going. And then it gets cold and yeah. November is my least favorite month for a lot of reasons. While this is my least favorite month though, I did have some favorites to share here on the blog! Lets get into it.

Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Vintage– I have spent years straying from what I considered unusual colors of lipstick. I tried to stick with more nudes just because I’m lazy and when the lipstick starts rubbing off, I don’t want to have to worry about reapplication. With this liquid lipstick, I decided to try for something a little out of my comfort zone. Nyx describes Vintage as a plum color with mauve undertones. I personally thought that it looks like more of a chocolate brown with some hints of purple– not usually my go to. This month I took a risk though and tried it out. Being SUPER pale as I am, dark colors can either look amazing or they can be overpowering. I ended up loving this lip color though as a way to bring some sophistication to the most basic of outfits. Although I have to say, I definitely have to make sure to balance this dark, rich color with something happening with my eyes or it can definitely be too much. As usual though, I love this formula and the price ($7) isn’t bad either! You can check this liquid lipstick and it’s twenty four shades here.

My music choices for the month of November were comprised of mostly old releases. November is my flashback month every year where I always seem to return to my roots. Know how there’s comfort food? Well this is my comfort music. I do have to say, I did find a couple of new releases or new-to-me songs as well that made it into my monthly rotation.

Burst & Decay by The Wonder Years (2017)– This album is just what I needed for this month. The Wonder Years took a few of their old songs and re-released them in this seven song Acoustic EP. It is just stunning though. Each song takes on a new life and is just so touching and full of emotion. It is simply stunning.

Best Song: You in January

Listen Further: A Song for Ernest Hemingway, Don’t Let Me Cave In, Cardinals

Go Deeper: My Last Semester and Dynamite Shovel (Campfire Version) from The Upsides (2010)Came Out SwingingMe vs the Highway, and Living Room Song from Suburbia I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing (2012).

Put Yourself Back Together by Real Friends (2013)– I don’t know what it is about this album but I’m a big fan. Each song has a masterful use of suburban imagery coupled with a relatable feeling of being a teenager and being nostalgic for a time that wasn’t necessarily the best of times.

Best Song: Late Nights in My Car

Listen Further: Skin Deep, I’ve Given Up on You

That’s it for this month! What were your favorite items for this month? Let me know in the comments!
